Diba’s mission is to encourage sustainable fashion and eco-friendly methods of maintaining clothes. We are here to aid you in creating a more eco-conscious wardrobe through alterations.
Textile pollution is a result of staggering amounts of textile waste being sent to landfills annually. Think of this scenario: you find a ton of great outfits at the retail department and shop all the best styles, yet after arriving home, your next step is to find space for your new clothes. The most common solution to this issue would be to donate or throw away old clothes.
But what if you could keep up with the latest trends without having to resort to clearing away old clothes and making way for new ones? We encourage the motto, “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”.
In a fashionable way of course.
Alterations can offer a wide variety of ways to elongate your wardrobe's lifespan and help you maintain your most cherished outfits. The first method is to alter the clothes measurements in order to obtain the best fit. Most brands follow a systematically produced sizing chart, but every person has a unique set of measurements, and Diba is here to help you make your clothes unique to you. Resolving dissatisfactory clothing fits is a huge step in preventing clothing returns and textile waste.
Repairs are another service we offer at Diba, whether it be re-attaching fallen buttons, patching up holes, or replacing zippers, we will make your clothes feel new again. Many clothes are discarded due to rips or tears, but with a little alteration magic, the outfit can be fixed. In addition to repairing old or worn out clothes, you may also choose to reuse the leftover material along with our service to create an entirely new textile item, including but not limited to: cushion covers, tote bags or even blankets.
Many people give away their old clothes as they no longer fit an ongoing trend or the look has fallen out of style, but it is possible to alter the garment to make a whole new outfit! Just by adding or subtracting a piece of the garment, the look and feel of the clothing can become something completely new. An example of this would be removing the sleeves off of a dress, or adding a slit to the side of the skirt. You can even monogram a new design onto a pair of jeans!
